Breathe

All of my latest photographs were taken here in the UK, usually just a short distance from my trusted campervan 'Bruce' or with my drone. That’s because my mobility is limited. My lungs are damaged by exposure to war-related fumes so I’m currently waiting for a double lung transplant.

Staying close to Bruce might sound restrictive, but it’s also made me look differently at familiar landscapes noticing mood, light, silence. There’s a ghostly, atmospheric quality to many of the images and I think that comes from my personal history.

Having experienced war, I’ve seen how landscapes can carry memory, even far from the front lines. In these quiet corners of the UK, I’ve found something that speaks to both stillness and survival a fragile sense of peace that lingers in the land.
